Specs: Windows Vista, 2.1 GHz / 2939 MB
Hi all,

I was wondering if it is possible to make a factory image or similar on my laptop, so i can do a factory restore.

As the original hard drive failed, i would like to be able to create one so I'm not messing about with windows and driver disc's.

Specs:

Processor Intel core2duo T7250. was T5450
Ram 4GB pc 5300 was 2GB
Hard drive 80gb
Windows vista home premium 32 bit.

Thanks for reading.

Vista has a good way to create a backup. You can then use almost any real Vista dvd to boot and recover.

Many other means can create an image and boot to some media and return to some state.

Be sure you make the dvd's if offered or understand how HP wants you to recover it.They may offer some program too.

Hang up and live.

✔ Best Answer
Have you already installed Windows on a replacement hard drive, or have you not done that yet ?

If you haven't done that yet, using the Recovery disk set for your model MAY automatically make a Recovery partition on the hard drive that has all the data on it necessary to re-load everything that was originally on C.

How do you find out whether it would ?
See the User's or Owner's manual for your model - the Recovery info may be in that - or look at the FAQs on the HP web site in the support for your model or elsewhere on that web site regarding the Recovery procedure.
If that mentions recovering the original data by using the data on a Recovery partition, then that's probably your case.

If the computer didn't come with a Recovery disk set, you can probably buy one from the HP web site - if they're available, they're listed in the software downloads for your specific model,

or if not, from one of these web sites:

Thanks for your replies.

I have put windows vista onto the hard drive with drivers. but i have not got the recovery disc's for the laptop and didn't really want to buy them. as they are £35 from the uk hp site . my laptop isn't worth much more than that. lol.

I just wondered if it was possible to create your own.
