Why do you need to configure com ports on the machine & what does your material say to do?

If the HP Pavillion has Com Ports then Vista will allocate IRQ's etc.. COM Port 1 to 4 are the standard, whilst Com Port 5 and up are used for PCI Analog Modems as Virtual Ports.

OK, thanks. I have an application that will use a COM port to configure cellular phones, but the program says that the COM port is in use by another application, I wasn't able to find the way to configure this the way XP does, so I've uninstalled the vista and Istalled XP instead... so Vista was not good for me...

thanks

The old crew, same which made win98, are backed to the work, seems to me.
This is the reason why so "infatile" errors are in Vista, too.
But these are Windows, n'est pas?
