Comment:

We just got a new computer and used Vista. We really don't like it and would like to go to XP. We have an XP Cd and the key but when we try to install XP, it won't allow us to.
We've gone to the command prompt to try to do it that way but we still can't do it.
Any suggestions?
We have an 80GB drive and 768MB of RAM.

You need to format the HDD first. Boot from the CD and choose to set up windows. If you get a message that Windows is already installed, go through the steps to delete it. Then format the drive and install it. Remove any external equipment before attempting to install.

The fastest way is to format the partition on which your Vista is installed. In order to do that, you may use NTFS DOS or the format tool of XP setup program. Then boot from XP CD,there would be no problem.
