I accidently changed the domain to workgroup on my work dell latitude d630 laptop and now i cant get on all with the password i had. How can i change domain back to the way it was before, i want to try to fix it before i bring it to my bosses attention.

Probably won't be able to do it because it will ask for a system administrator username and password when you try to join the domain.

Actually, it's the local machine password that you need. That's if you had set one in the first place.

No it's not the local machine password, the machine doesn't have a password, the accounts do. But either way, it's the password given to sysadmins that the domain controller is looking for.

I should have said local machine account. Now that the domain doesn't exist anymore, the only way to access the local machine is with a local machine account. Most people never set a local admin account or add the domain admin account to the local machine. That's poor planning.
I had a client who didn't want to pay for a server upgrade, so I changed the network to peer to peer. The first thing I did was made sure that those local admin accounts were working.

Ok, I see what your saying, he needs the local user account password to log in. Actually we were both right because once he does get in, he is going to have to connect to the domain again and needs the sysadmin password for that part.

Unfortunately, the domain is gone & it's gone forever. By now, his boss knows & as you can see, he hasn't returned. He might be looking for a new job & doesn't have time for us. LOL
