Can anyone help with a strange problem?
I'm using Vista, but when I try to open folders or files from the Start menu (a folder has been dragged there) it says
THe Parameter Is Incorrect
I've been using Windows for 10 years and never had this problem
My other Vista PC doesn't have this problem
I can find nothing on the web about this.
Because I can't use the Start menu to access folders and files, I have to click on folders, like its Windows 98.I've tried messing around with the files, deleting, re-installing, everything - but this lapotp will not allow me to open anything via the Start menu.
Non-Word files are fine.
Any ideas?Thanks

yes, the only thing i can think causing that is that recantly you dragged a "Shortcut" icon onto the start menu and deleted the origional shortcut which i guess would normally be on your desktop.
i can only reccommend browsing microsoft office on start>programs>microsoft office and right click on word in that microsoft office folder and copy, not send to desktop...copy and then paste on desktop or start menu.
sending a shortcut to desktop cannot be deleted if the program was removed or modified in any way.
copy/paste will launch it normally exept if any recant changes happen which normally currupts the shortcut...it will launch it normally and fine.
im using home/studant edition of micrsoft word 2007

I just started having this same issue after I enabled "Ignore other programs that use DDE" (see http://www.lytebyte.com/2008/05/13/... in excel.
