Up until recently I could go onto any web site and click on links to mpeg video clips and they would open in media player, now I get the standard 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage' message. I dont want to go to a web page, I just want to view the mpeg clip. The only thing I have done recently that I think could affect this is installing i-tunes/quick time. When I tried firefox the video clips opened up with quick time, I uninstalled quick time and now they open in media player, but still no luck in IE7. I have tried the default program settings and file associations but still no good. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? I have been using IE7 and WMP11 for ages now, the sites have been fine until yesterday. Also in case it matters, I am using Vista. I don’t really want to revert to IE6 or use firefox as I much prefer IE7.

I had the same problem. You need to reinstall IE7 and after that resinstall WMP11 because Quick Time changes files and does not put them back when its uninstalled.

Need help with computers. Stay away from Microsoft.
