Hi. I am trying to open a drive I have connected to my PC
but when i click on it it keeps asking The Disk in drive F is
not formated. Do you want to format now? Well No of
corse I don't Im trying to backup files on it. O ps Its a hard
drive. So how do I open without format?
thanks

Right click on it and click open. If you get the same error , open a command prompt and type the letter of the drive: For example d: and press enter. If it goes to the drive run dir/p and press enter. If it lists the files copy them to another drive: copy *.* f: or whatever the other drive is.
hi does not work it says The volume does not contain a recognized
file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers
are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.?
The drive is either corrupt or it is not a windows file system. You maybe able to use a boot disk to recover your files.
I should say that there are 2 drives which had with what I think is
called RAID (they only show up as one hard drive of 640GB instead
of 2 of 320GB). but i dont know what order they are in. 1 of the hard
drives has a red sticker on it?
Is it RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5?
You might want to disconnect one of them and see if you can open the other.
I dont know whatever come with the pc. Yes only one shows when i
connect them individually.
Can the drive(s) be opened when only one is connected? I never knew that OEMs came with RAID unless you bought it second hand.
Hi. NNo it was brand new :) Packard Bell do funny things. anyway I wiped the hard drives and Found a Backup I had made a few days before with norton ghost in my external hard drive :)
So all is well now?
