Can't Log Into Admin Account

My friend has Vista installed on his laptop with a standard account and an Admin account. He cannot log into the admin account without the computer crashing. He can log into the standard account just fine though. He needs to get into the admin account to make changes and add users. Any suggestions?

It sounds like the admin profile is corrupt. Since there are no other admin accounts one choice would be to try a repair install on the system. You need an OEM copy of a Vista disk to do it though. I don't think ACER provides an OS disk, all I have seen is recovery ones.

Will the recovery disk fix it? Or do I need to do a complete re-install with Vista. If the latter is the case, I'll have to have him but a copy of Vista to do that because yo are right, Acer did not give him an OEM copy.
