I know there was an issue with vista restore due to a dual boot, but I'm not using another windows version on this laptop.
Is there anyway that I can get system restore to work again?

What specifically is the problem? In what way does it not work?

I have tried to restore back to my first restore point and have made two other restore points and it will not restore back to those either. Does it have anything to do with administrator rights? Reason I ask... sometimes when I open a program such as spybot I have to use administrator rights to imunize after an update.
UPDATE TO MY ISSUE
I just did a restore point a few minutes ago and then tried the system restore again to see if that worked... and it did. Just don't understand why my earlier restore points will not work... any ideas?

I presume you are dual booting with XP. XP for some reason deletes all restore points on Vista. If you boot into Vista every time you start your computer any restore points you have made will remain and you can use them to restore to. The minute you boot into XP all your restore points will be deleted and there is little you can do about it.
I use disc caddies and each system is loaded onto it's own hardrive and I change the boot option from the BIOS that way all my restore points are safeguarded.
Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!
