Anyone know how to find out what's keeping a registry from being deleted? Working on a pc that may have some malware hooked on to it -
Registry key "BugSoft AnyTrial" seems suspect - every time i delete it it comes back.
Trying to use Proccess Monitor to find out what's locking the key but i guess i dont know how to read the results?... :O

Question: Anyone know how to find out what's keeping a registry from being deleted?

Answer: Windows Resource Protection (WRP)

Unlike XP Windows File Protection, Windows Vista WRP features protects registry keys and folders in addition to critical system files. Any time you delete something WRP puts it back.

You can try removing the registry key and service with Hijackthis.

The malware associated with bugsoft is usually carried with cracked software so with Vista protecting the registry and possibly a hidden servece running and reinstating the key could mean the removal process may be a multi-faceted task.

Follow Sabertooth's advice, you need malware removal help.

I agreed with btk1w1 that you do need help removing the registry key BugSoft AnyTrial. If you take a look at the following thread you will discover that you are not alone with this issue.

Welp - i enabled 'show hidden devices' in device manager and there it was under Non-plug and play drivers. I uninstalled it and Poof! it was gone from the registry. I already had tried hjt and Spybot but they didnt find anything.
