I just upgraded my laptop from XP Pro to Vista Premium. Anytime I try to perform a action that uses the windows file browser, the application I am in freezes or returns an error. For example, in Firefox, if I click File->Open File... I get an error "The filepicker was unexpectedly closed by Windows." Then Firefox stops responding. If I do the same thing in Internet Explorer, IE just closes. If I open Word, then go to File->Open... Word freezes.
I can open file fine by opening "My Computer" navigating to the file and double clicking on it. But any action that would normally pop up a window to browse for files does not work. What can I do?
