I can ping websites (including the router) but I can't browse to them. I got rid of Norton Antivirus which seemed to help until I brought it back to the client and then all of a sudden it didn't work anymore. I noticed that the list of networks the laptop's been connected to is tremendous. I haven't exactly been using Vista all that much but could it factor in at all?

You are ahead of the game a bit. All web is a name that is translated to an IP address. DNS is the service. You normally put a few dns ip address in your network settings. Might include the router's ip as well as the DNS IP address for your ISP.
If worse comes to worse put a web site search engine's name and ip address into your hosts file. Then you can use it to act as your dns.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.
