Comment: hi.. i just bought Acer aspire 5920. it came with windows vista original. yesterday i decided to install XP using slipstreamed XP + sata driver, it works but now it doesnt detect any windows vista. everytime i restart, it just load windows XP, it should be an option to load vista or xp doesnt it? but this option doesnt exist. now i cannot boot to vista. i tried to restore using alt F10 at the beginning of acer logo (as said in the manual book) but nothing happened, it just keep booting to XP. please help me guys, im so stressed.. thanx a lot for the reply..

Reply: (edit)I believe you're SOL. The following MSKB explains what happen when you use slipstream XP over pre-installed Vista. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=... Forget about what you read in Acer manual - it's for users who don't screw around with the factory-installed OS. To get your Vista back, you need to contact Acer & order something like "Vista recovery CD set with partition rebuild." i_XpUser

Reply: (edit)Do you have the Recovery DVD's ? if not you should of created them first time you booted Vista. You should of configured a Dual Boot scenario, actually you have hosed Vista instead. Time to phone ACER !

Reply: (edit)SOL = Sadly Outta Luck (polite form) :-) Even if you have the Recovery DVD it will not work because it cannot synch with the hidden partition that host Vista image that no longer exists. As Walter Mitty suggested, it's time to phone Acer (have your credit card handy). i_XpUser

Reply: (edit)you need a original vista setup disk to boot into and ask vista to repair your startup that will get your vista back if you didnt delete it or overwrite it with xp, after that you can configure it to dual boot vista and xp, with some vista boot program. PC Tech Genius
