Hi, I am accessing the internet via WiFi that the family set up at home. For over a year, I had no problem connecting to the internet with this toshiba laptop until yesterday. All of a sudden, I could not connect to our wireless network. All other laptops my siblings have at home do (go through the connection) except for mine. Even with changing security configuration (PSK, etc) or no security at all, it just won't let me go through. I tried to look for possible assistance via the toshiba site but couldn't find anything that is helpful or related to my problem. What could possibly go wrong? Please help.

are you sure your wi-fi is on (i know, it is a stupid question but...) also, are you sure that your wifi works properly? take your laptop to school or to some place with free wifi and give it a try. if it does not work, right-click on the wifi icon located on the bottom right side your screen. select diagnose and repair and see what happens.
have you recently installed any software which tweaks or interfere with your wifi driver?

My laptop with Vista has issues with my router. My router is a Linksys WRT54G its about 3 years old. My laptop is an Acer aspire. When the laptop had XP it had no issues. What kind of router do you have? Also whats the name of the wi-fi card? I am sure its built in check device mgr for the name. They could have the same brand of wi-fi cards being oem machines.

frankhelp: the wifi works on other wireless internet except for the one we have set up at home. i did select and repair and it gave me the option to either reset my IP and i forgot what the other option was. but i tried both however, did not help.

chrisG: i also have linksys (WRT150N) and my wifi card shows two brands: one is Realtek and the other one is intel. i am running Vista also and did not have any problem connecting to our wifi at home for 3 years until this week. do you have any idea how to solve the issue? i'm not sure if i am ready to switch to XP.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

XP would be an upgrade.Acording to this page
http://www.notebookreview.com/defau...

Intel is the Wi-Fi and realteck is the network port for a cat 5.
I really not sure what to do. It seems your wi-fi card doese not want to communicate with the router. If it connects with other routers then there is no issue with it being dead. Maybe
get another router and see if that helps. You can use 2 routers bridged toghther maybe buy a cheap router and bridge it with your main router and let your laptop run off of it.
You can google on how to bridge routers.

Chris: thank you for your response. i have solved the problem. and it's nothing related to wifi at all. i accidently hovered my mouse over the date and time of the laptop and it was set at january 2005. i tried correcting the date and time then the wifi went through. i can't believe it was the only reason that caused it (battery needs changing) :) haha.

anyway. thank you for taking the time to respond. have a nice day!
