I recently had two separate partitions, both running Windows Vista. One partition was accessible, one was not. This weird setup came as a result of some relative stupidity in trying to solve this problem:
http://computing.net/windowsvista/w...Anyway, I decided to delete the unaccessible Vista partition, but as soon as I did that, I started getting the "BOOTMGR missing" error at startup. Running the startup repair from the Vista CD seems to have no effect. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Perhaps you could/should continue on with the other thread as it states you were dual booting XP on the first partition which explains the situation better for anyone reading. It also shows that you care enough to respond to any responders questions or suggestions.
When you install Vista on a second partition it still loads it's boot files on the first partition. When you got rid of XP you also got rid of the boot files.
So, if the other posting is closer to the truth then you will need to install Vista on the first partition and then copy over any needed files to that partition. Once done just format the second partition.

Please try to delineate which partition has what OS on it.
You say you have two instances of Vista running on your system and you deleted one. Which one ? On what partition ? Please be specific, telling us the drive letters as well.
Previously you had XP and Vista. Then how did you end up with two Vistas ?
