I don't know why the computer won't start up normally. I start up the computer and it gives 2 options: First option states that I should startup system recovery and Second option states that I can run the OS normally. When I select the first option, it starts up and leads to a few options which try to fix the problem --- this option fails no matter which one I pick.( I dont have Vista OS CD, it was already installed in the computer). When I try the second option, it just restarts the computer and sends me to these 2 options again

You may need to contact Acer. This is the reason they sould ALWAYS give a CD even if it is an OS repair CD they sould give some CD to boot up systems without formatting. This Compaq I have has a recovery partition and there is an option to repair instead of full recovery. I don't think Acer's give that option.
