Boot has intensive disc access

January 2, 2011 at 13:14:33
Specs: Windows Vista, 1M
When I cold boot my PC it has intensive disc access. I am almost completely locked out during this access. My operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium. All Microsoft updates are installed. This happens only on a cold boot. I have looked at Task Manager during this time it shows no active processes.

Are you talking about long load time for the desktop on a cold boot? If that is your problem, you might want to check what you have loading on startup.

Go to START and run msconfig. Go to STARTUP tab and research everything that's checked there. You'll find a LOT of programs don't need to run at every startup.
