I get boot disk failure as I power on the computer on cold mode. However, after 2-3 minutes it loads fine. I had recently upgraded my hard drive (160 GB, 3 month old, older drive is set up as slave) and vista is 10 days old. It was working fine otherwise with XP. What could be the problems.

Check that the drive is correctly identified by BIOS from the BIOS POST screens.

Get the companies drive diagnostics and test the heck out of the drive. If s.m.a.r.t then enable it. Test it cold even if you have to put in front of a/c. Test it hot too.

It is possible that your boot sequence is out of whack. I would have thought that if boot disk fails the bios stops.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
