Hello,
i installed the 30-days evaluation of Windows Vista Home Premium to check the compatibility with my PC.

Everything works ok during normal operation.

however, when i try to play a video using windows media player or powerdvd, i get a blue screen and the PC restarts. upon restart, vista informs me that the problem was caused by the graphics card and to check the drivers.

i suspect that the problem is caused by DirectX 10 incopadibility with my card.

i checked for updated drivers and firmware but i could find none.

any ideas?

We also have this card in one of our PCs, and I installed Vista on there too, and it works fine - complete with Aero Glass etc, and no crashes, and games work too so I can't think it is a DX10 incompatibility. Have you overclocked your card or system? Does it work ok with Windows XP?

Thing is, I also wanted to update the drivers, but I can't - I downloaded the latest ForceWare from Nvidia.com and when setup starts it says it cannot find a compatible graphics card in the system.

Surely there must be drivers for this card for Vista? Or do people with, say, a 5700 card have to plod along forever with the "built in" 5700 Vista drivers?

Thanks for the info.

in winXP everything works fine.

i downloaded the Graphics card > GeForce & TNT2 > Windows Vista 32bit drivers but like you the setup cannot find compatible graphics cards.

i do not think that the graphic card is overclocked since i never tried to do this. maybe the manufacturer did. do you know how can i find out if it is overclocked?

Ah ha,

Have you tried this download?

Also, if it's working fine in XP, and you've never overclocked it before, then I can't think it would be overclocked.

Anyway try those drivers from the above link and see how you get on, I might try them myself later.

the links refre to the same thing.

i'll try them in a couple of days. i installed vista last week and due to the problem and no solution at the time had to go back to xp. i'll do the installation on my 2nd hard disk so as if it does not work, i'll still have xp ready for use.

if anyone can think of anything else let me know
