Blinking cursor is all I get at startup

Specs: Windows XP
I turn on my computer and only I have is a blinking dash. do you know how can I fix it?

does your computer POST?

do you get pass the bios screen?

if your computer POST and pass the bios screen, your OS could be corrupted

Well not a Windows fault, as Windows has not even started
to load.

Please try another monitor and confirm the Video plug
securely screwed in.

Also, are you plugging in the monitor to an addon video card,
or to the motherboard video card? (ie is this a AGP or PCI-
Express video card-inside your computer)

Another option is to reset CMOS, you will need to refer to
your computers manual, to find where the reset jumper on the
motherboard is.

What you describe usually means no master boot record.

Usually this is not related to bios or monitor but can be related to a virus or disk problem.

First go into recovery console and run the utilities fixmbr and fixboot.
