Currently my primary harddrive is experiencing a very annoying problem similar to the usual black screen with mouse pointer at login error. I have exactly the same symptoms more or less apart from CTRL-ALT-DEL to enter the taskmenu doesnt work and the repair feature on the vista disk also does not work. I dont quite understand what the problem is as I dont get any error to idicate whats going on. I have tried to fix it via another harddrive but unfortunatly it wont let me do anything to bootmgr. I assume this is normal but it has left me with basically no choices as chkdsk will not fix the problems for me.
