I am currently running Windows Vista Beta 2 and have installed latest vista drivers for my Nvidia Geforce 6100. Battlefield 2 works fine, but I have a minor but annoying problem with Battlefield 1942.

The issue is that when I start the game, it will load fine and I will hear the menu music and such, but the screen just remains black. It doesn't do this if I set the desktop resolution to 800x600 60Hz (the resolution the menu system uses). If I tab out of the game or change resolution/refresh rate ingame, the screen will go black but the game appears to run fine. It is annoying to have to change the resolution and refresh rate everytime I want to play the game, and be stuck with that when playing.

This is not monitor related since I don't have this problem with Battlefield 2, or any other program I have installed at the moment.

Can someone help on this? I'm thinking it could be a driver problem maybe.

Vista Beta 2 is far from RTM. No one's going to bother.

I have similar issues w/ my brand new Gateway w/ Windows Vista and Battlefiled 1942. I can't access many of the control options (ie music volume, player name etc) and worst of all nearly all the weapons are missing crosshairs! The same goes for Vietnam, Secret Weapons Of WW2 and The Road To rome!

Go to Laptopvideotogo.com and download the 101.* drivers for nvideo. This worked for me and solved the problem
