I have a Vista home premium laptop with integrated graphics using the 945 mobile express family chip set (new dynamic memory technology), and, at first, Battle for Middle Earth did not work at all. Then I found out that with most games running on Vista, you have to install the latest video driver (go to manufacturer website, not MS, who are slow in making OEM drivers available) open up the properties and run in admin or sometimes in XP mode. Also you have to get the patch for the game by using patch grabber and it will alter it for you to be able to play. This is the same on Age of Empires 3 and Command and Conquer Generals, bear that in mind. By the way what is your comps specs and video card?
