Batch to use saved data in batch programing

I you can save batch txt by:

echo Txt > File.txt

But can i use that word "txt" when it is saved?

I want a batch to read a file (txt, bat, dat...) and the batch to "set" the word saved in that file.txt. and a "varible"

set word=(word from file)

Oh and it many be two to 20 lines down the file.

Can it be done and how?
