Is there any basic cd player I can download for win vista, like the type win9x and 2000 had, to where I can control just the cd volume and not the whole system. This works better when I play games and want some music in the background, i can have the cd player audio higher than the game volume.

I forgot to add, one that uses the cd audio cable, i have audio cables on both the dvd burner and the dvd rom hooked to my sound blaster audigy.

This is an in-built functionality in Vista's new sound mixer. Unlike in XP where you had a single (hardware) control for all sounds & if an application's sound was louder or softer than that specified by Windows XP's volume control, you had to constantly adjust the volume.

In Windows Vista, just right-click the speaker icon in the notification area of your desktop, then click Volume Mixer to open the control. You should see a list of programs running. From there, use the slider bar to adjust the volume up or down for the applicable program that you want louder or less loud.
