I'm kinda new at this computer stuff, but need to know how to perform a back up using my WD 250G hard drive. When I try to back it up, it gives me an error and tells me to use checkdisk to correct the problem. Anyone know what the fix is? I believe I'm running the HD on fats, does it need to be formatted to ntfs? Thanks for the help.

If it's telling you to run chkdsk then that's what you need to do - go into 'My Computer', right click the drive, select 'properties' then 'tools' and then 'error checking'. In Vista it's better to have the drive formatted as NTFS - it's done using the 'run' command - do a Google for 'Vista FAT to NTFS' for instructions.
