|Windows Vista Ultimate requires a minimum of 2GB however a large amount of the memory that it does use is in Ready Boost which is used for system resources and is returned to the programs when the system requires it. However, some games does not like this feature. Really the only way to solve this issue is to turn off non needed services and start up features.|
you can do this by going to Start/ Run/ MSCONFIG
Under Services be sure to click Hide Microsoft services so you dont' accidently click off something important to the operating system.
Scroll through the list and uncheck unimportant features such as adobe updates, java and other things that automaticly startup when needed.
Next move on to Start Up under this you can uncheck what you feel is un needed since this mainly involves basic features such as quick start of programs such as instant messengers and other features.
Keep in mind not to turn off features such as printer tools and this of this nature if you know your printer relys off of certain programs to function or you will have to go back and return them back on.
