Automatic Redirect from Search Engines

December 10, 2009 at 00:12:46
Specs: Windows Vista
Anytime I click on a link through a search engine it is redirecting me to other sites, specifically ads and other unwanted sites. I'm not sure how to take care of it but i have read others posts on this issue and tried using some of those solutions but nothing has worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Below this post you will find six, almost identical, related articles on this site.

If they do not help then...

Ive tried a bunch of the solutions that are general and they did not work. I didn't try the solutions that are specific to individual problems. Everyone appears to be having success with their problems but for whatever reasons the solutions haven't worked for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advanced

You can start by using Malwarebytes.
It would be really nice if you STATED what you have already tried. Takes the guess work out of helping you.

Thanks for the reply. I tried using malware already, it came up with a few things but when I removed them it didnt fix the problem. I also used avast and did a bootscan, it came up with one trojan but that didn't help either. I'm not really sure what else to try, i downloaded HiJackThis and ran it. i have the log if it would help to post it.

Be sure to read the beginners guide on the left of the D/L page and run the scans till you are rootkit and virus free.
