Ok well my problem is that when I install the catalyst control center the driver that comes with that makes my screen a dark grey, I've installed and uninstalled it many times but to no avail, when i roll back the driver to the one that ships with vista it works fine however I miss antiscoptic filtering.

If anybody has any advice besides buying an Nvidia card please advise ;)

Well I fixed it, I did it by downloading a program called Driver Cleaner PRO and then installing the drivers again, apparantly something went wrong the first time and a corrupt file had been installed or something, thanks for all the replys.

As much as I love ATI my next card may be Nvidia because I hate spending hours solving these wierd kinds of problems.

These weird kinds of problems have nothing to do with ATI or Nvidia. It is purely bad luck.

Something gets corrupted during installation or a sector or two on your harddisk may be corrupt and some files happen to install on them. Therefore, do a

CHKDSK X: /F /R

where X: is the drive Vista is installed on.

Well I wouldn't have said that if this was my first time, just last week on xp the drivers did the same thing only made the screen VERY white so I had to totally reinstall windows to fix the problem however have never had any problems with any of my nvidia cards.

So after all, you re-installed Windows and re-installed ATI drivers and ATI drivers re-installed properly ?
