Hello.

ATI released RTM ( beta ) drivers that are said to work on Vista RC2.

Does anybody know if ATI Vista RC2 drivers work on RC1 as well ?

I have never been able to make ATI RC1 drivers work on Vista RC1.

I hope ATI RC2 drivers work on RC1 because I do not have a copy of Vista RC2.

My video card is Radeon X1600 Pro.

Regards

Hello.

Thanks for your reply.

I raise the question because someone might have seen an answer somewhere on the internet.

I do not ask anyone to jeopardize his installation of Vista just to let me know that ATI drivers work.

If I do not get a positive reply, I will of course try the new drivers out myself and if someone asks the question, I will gladly share my experience with him.

Hello.

I had time to install ATI RTM ( beta ) driver for my Radeon X1600 Pro display adapter on Vista RC1.

The ATI driver installed just fine except for the fact that, when the monitor goes off on power saving, I cannot get the monitor back. I have to do a system reset. I turned monitor power saving to never.

Please be advised.

The key word is BETA! Vista is beta, the ATI drivers are beta...there are no guarantees! RC1 & RC2 have built-in drivers. Just go with them.

Hello.

Thanks for your reply.

I know both software are betas.

But my main idea was to let the others know the situation and not to complain.

Best regards

The point I'm trying to make is that far too many people are using Vista RC1 or RC2 as their sole OS, regardless of the fact that it's a limited time BETA & in spite of Microsoft's warnings not to do so. They come here & complain that 'this' program doesn't work or 'that' program doesn't work...then they tack on the line, "and don't tell me it's because it's BETA". The simple fact is that in a large number of the cases, that IS what the problem is.
