Might try a "restore point" to a time when it worked. See help and support pages.

I always uninstall the CCC because it has bugs as you have discovered. Not only that but is usses a lot of your system resources on start up and I like RAM over Eye Candy. You do not need it unless you plan on hooking up an external monitor and want to take advantage of ATI's multi screen software.

To uninstall it just go to your control panel and go to Programs and Features. Then find the "catalyst control center" in the list and chose remove.
