When I sign on to AOL, I get a series of small empty boxes with only an OK buttonand an x at the top right corner. I have reinstalled McAfee, AOL, and run spy-bot, but cannot get rid of this.
AOL is the WORST software out there, it has destroyed many PC's, I would dump that ASAP and just use AOL webmail.
Also McAfee is trash too, I would suggest Avast FreeSome HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
I too get this blank AOL box with OK in the box. I have to click on the cross three times before it goes but when I want to go into another icon on my desktop it appears again. It also appears when I want to sign in to AOL. This has only happened since I upgraded to AOL Desktop 9.6. I have emailed AOL but all they say is to uninstall and then reinstall AOL desktop 9.6. which I have done but to no avail. I am thinking seriously of changing my ISP. AOL have never been the same since linking up with Talk Talk. !!!!!!
Has anyone been helped with this problem? I've been experiencing it also and I don't know what to do!
It's not AOL, per se, it's McAfee, the antivirus AOL promotes. You may need to get the uninstall utility, MCPR.exe from McAfee, to clean your computer of the antivirus software's remnants.
mcafee sucks. aol. sucks.brianwild7 has the correct fix. it works right away and fixed my firefox crashing too
