Has anyone found any decent, easy to read services guides online yet for Vista? When I look at my processes tab and see I have 65 running, compared to 45 in XP, I get the feeling it could do with some cleaning up!

Cheers

BTW I won't consider the above link authoritative. I don't believe there is any decent services guide yet in light of the fact that Windows Vista was just released

I have 73 processes running. I bought my laptop about a month ago and the only programs I installed so far is Kaspersky and office 2007. I'm still looking for a decent website myself so I can sort everything out.

Another thing I find irritating about this laptop is that my hard drive is continuously busy but my cpu usage hovers around 3 percent.

Duh - if you're talking about running processes, read one of our recent thread HERE.

Oops.. I forgot to mention in the post above... Click the box in the upper-right- hand side that says..."Do you know what's running on your computer"?

A very handy site that has easy to understand explanations of what is running. Quite good for peeps like me who don't quite understand all the latest computer mumbo-jumbo computer terminology, lol.

I have only 29 services out of 159 running. You have to experiment to find out which services are needed. Just don't set the user profile service to manual and never disable the com/dcom services
