Always output HDMI laptop to TV

I have successfully set up the brand new HP laptop to output via HDMI to the Magnovox flat-screen TV. The picture quality is good, everything is working great.
However, when I select the source on the TV to go to TV (versus HDMI source), it seems to shut off the HDMI signal from the laptop. Because when I then go back to HDMI source, the display is blank (both on laptop and TV) and I usually have to press a button on the laptop in order to get it to reappear.
Any idea how to force the laptop to always display to HDMI output even if it does not detect an HDMI signal?

When you right-click on an empty area on the desktop, you see a menu pop up. On the menu list, there must be an item named " Graphic Properties" or similar wording. There, you may be able to select which output you want as default.
But due to the properties of HDMI connection, you may lose HDMI output when HDMI signal is broken especially if you are watching content-protected material because HDMI is HDCP protected. HDCP is the short of Hi-def Digital Content Protection.
