I did an auto update of Windows stuff last nite and when i logged on today, I have no desktop, no start menu. NOTHING. Just a blue screen of death. I was able to get online through the task manage but when i tried to do a system restore via C:Windows\system32\restore, it said the folder was empty. What's going on? I'm not hugely tech savvy so please assume I am an idiot with your instructions.

Thanks for replying so quickly. I was reading another forum and they mentioned all the things that explorer.exe does. I typed it in the task manager and ta da, everything seems to have come back. Why would it not have run at start up? Is there something I can check to make sure it doesn't happen again? I have heard that there are always issues with explorer.exe. Anyone got any hints/tips to prevent problems in the future?
