alaris quickvideo weecam support

Specs: Windows Vista
I created numerous videos using the weecam on Windows 98. I transferred these .avi files to my Windows Vista PC. Only audio is playing. Is there a way to play these videos on Windows media player or QuickPlay? Any other possibilities? Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try it and got the following message:
No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "VGPX". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.

Go to and type in vgpx codec or vgpx video and you will get tons of sites where you can download codecs to view this format of video.

Here's a link to get you started

Thanks again. I did what you suggested - most of the links for Alaris are gone (apparently, so is Alaris!). I was looking for a free driver, but the sites I've gone to want $. Any other suggestions?

I am having the same issue you are.... I found a site to DL the software for the WeeCam (in an attempt to be able to play and convert my old .avi files). Unfortunately, it appears this only runs on WIN 98 and earlier .... I am in Vista....

Here is the link:

I believe it to be safe (as far as krap <virus, malware, spyware, etc> Some posts say it is not, some say that says "proceed with caution". I dl'd it, my spyware checker found nothing.... When I attempted to install, it would not as I run Vista.... wouldn't a site that wants to install viruses install it anyway? It is not like they care if they ruin your PC....

I am going to have to use an old harddrive w/ win 98 on it and see if I can connect it up to a PC and get it to boot up and then try it.....

I guess I am a bit carefree about it as I am wiping my drive in a few days and installing WIN 7... So if it does come w/ krapware or worse..... it'll be gone.

Let me know what happens....
