i just bought a laptop. and sometimes when im going through the start menu the bar that shows up when i hover over the options lags, like it doesn't follow my mouse very quickly. it's actually really slow and sometimes instantly goes from the top to the bottom depending on how fast i move my mouse
also the effect that happens when i close and open a window.. it lags too. i bought an HP DV9610. it has an nvidia Go 7150M graphics card.
does vista need a good graphics card or is it just my ram that is mainly holding me back?
feed back asap please.. because im really thinking about returning this laptop

You will need two gigs to have vista run smoothly with aero. 1 gig to run smoothly without aero. You might want to also download ad-aware se personal and also spybot to determine if you have any spyware on your computer.

You probably don't need more RAM if you follow HP/Compaq tip listed below:

I agree with XP User: I'm running Vista Business on a computer with only 1 GB of RAM, and though more RAM would improve the performance, Aero runs pretty smoothly. It certainly doesn't behave the way that you described. I do have a video card with 128 MB of RAM. Are you using onboard video and how much video RAM do you have ?
