Acer X3200 only boots in safe mode

Specs: Windows Vista
Have a Acer X3200. It will only boot in safe mode. In normal boot it will either re-start booting, or if it gets to the rolling windows loading bar will fail to the blue screen (not get to the windows logo)..
As it boots in safe mode, does this indicate that the bois and motherboard is OK. In safe mode I can access the hard drive and dvd drive files. I have disabled all the drivers in safe mode and disconnected all external hardware except the screen, but no difference. Restored to factory set up and problem still exists. Any ideas what the fault could be.

In Device Manager, disable as much as you can, and make sure the drivers for everything else are up to date, esp the video. Not sure offhand if you can get into MSCONFIG and enable boot logging. In System Properties you can disable auto restart so you can read the blue screen. You also can use a utility boot CD to test the various hardware components, esp. memtest86.
