Acer e-recovery stopped working & is corrupt

Specs: Windows XP
Basically I made my PQSERVICE Partition Active.

Rebooted my machine and it went straight to e-recovery.

2 options - I selected the option to restore to factory default.

Sat and watched in awe as the system started to load a selection of pop******* image files from location D2D/IMAGES on the partition.

However every time it fails on part 146, hangs then restarts the whole process of copying these again this happens 3 times then error message telling me it failed.

I went to the partition PQSERVICE navigated to these files and part 146 was there and was the correct size etc, I am pretty dam stuck now as i cannot get the system restored.

Try to order the recovery DVD from Acer or buy a Windows install cd; whichever is cheaper.

The second cause : in this case hidden partition PQSERVICE was erased or damaged, or you replaced the disc and in this case it is not present.
If you did not previously make a backup of your system by making an image disc. It will not be possible to use the D2D recovery. Your only hope will be to have in your possession Acer Recovery CD/DVD.

Copying the files from the restore partition to another partition will tell you if the files are correct or the programming is correct. If the copy fails, you just found the problem.
