Acer Aspire M5641 Boot Problem

December 21, 2011 at 13:04:58
Specs: Windows Vista Home Premium, Intel E2200/3 GB
My computer screen froze over a week ago and I haven't been able to boot up ever since. I've tried every other type of booting available with various results, but always hangs somewhere. I have no recovery disk. Running Windows Vista Home Premium.

I do hate to say this, but Windows Vista was a mistake in itself.. it's the most unstable operating system to date released from Microsoft.

What I would do is purchase Windows 7 and upgrade to that operating system. If there are files on your hard drive you want to keep, you can do a process called "slaving", which means you can take your hard drive out and have a friend who has a spare SATA port transfer your files for you.

I know this doesn't exactly answer your question.. but if you try several options on boot-up and it still hangs, then your OS is done, there's no sense in trying to repair it.

Check out, they have OEM versions of Windows 7 for $120.
