Hi,
A friend had issues with his Acer laptop basically the hard drive died and so he bought a new one.
He has a recovery disk and was wondering how he can install Vista Home again? When i insert the CD it goes through the process of Installing then says "error no partition found"
I was wondering why this is? is it because its not been formatted? how do i format this if i cannot start the install?
Do i need to install 3rd part drives from a floppy for the Sata drive? where can i get them from?
Please help
Thanks,

Sounds like its looking for the recovery partition. Is it a true recovery CD? Or is it used to access a recovery partition? If a new drive was installed then the Acer PQSERVICE partition is not on the new drive. Thats how the OEM'S cheat customers. They do not give OEM disk or recovery disk. You have to create the recovery disk yourself at your expense. I had the same problem my drive died in my Acer laptop and the recovery CD'S I made did not work. Ordered the CD'S/DVD'S from Acer and they did not work.

Hey thanks guys, Tim, How do i go about creating a recovery disk? Note that i cannot get into windows at all, its a totally brand new harddrive and has not been formatted.
Thanks,

Sorted the problem now. For those that are interested, i had to format the Hard Drive on a nother machine, then when i went to install windows it found the drive and installed it.
Oh and on another note, i found that you can not install vista from a recoevery disk (duh) my bad.
Thanks,
