Hi all. I have a dual boot of Windows Vista and Windows XP on separate partitions on my hard drive. Well, the partition table is allocated as the accompanying image illustrates. I have the system recovery partition, Vista partition and then a data partition. I am unable to make the XP partition available in under Vista. It is completely nonexistent under Computer Management|Disk Management. I loaded Acronis Disk Director and assigned it a drive later but this did not work. So, I want to assign the XP drive a letter and set it as active in Windows Vista.. Does anybody know how to accomplish this?
Thank you in advance.

Not exactly sure what you did because I have Dual boot vista/xp and I can see the xp partition fine.

Is the partition marked "hidden"?
How did you install the OS's.... Did you install Vista AFTER XP?

One other thing... try to avoid using Acronis. It is a good little program, but it does not operate completely independent from your OS's.
I use BOOTitNG which boots up on it's own and is totally independent from any OS. You can get it here and I believ there is a 30 day free trial (but it's cheap to buy and well worth the money):

Copy it onto a cd or floppy and boot up with it. When it asks to install press "cancel" and you will go into the maintenance mode where you can do partition work.

Use the storage manager mmc and view the disk first. See if it has assigned a drive letter to that partition.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.
