Good Morning!
Dell Pentium 75...80 mg Ram...1.6 gig...
NT 4.0...SP5.0...
Couple months ago I install a parallel port Zip drive...loaded the ZipNT drivers, everything worked great!

Couple of weeks ago I installed a NIC card in preparation of hooking up my home network...

Yesterday I was going to back up some files, plugged in the Zip drive and got the "Blue Screen of Death"...

I suspect an IRQ conflict, but so far haven't been able to resolve it...

I reloaded the ZipNT drivers...everything seems to be loading correctly...but still get blue screen whenever I plug in the Zip and re-boot...

QUESTION...is there any place in NT, or some utility I can download that will print out all the IRQ's, what's attached, active etc...
Like you can get in Win 95 using System Properties....???

Or any other suggestions???

Many thanx....Steve

When do you get the blue screen. Is it at bootup? If so, this is a known issue. Make sure you have a zip disk in the drive and the drive is turned on during bootup. Also, try installing SP-5 or 6 again.

In Winnt 4.0 go to Start RUN type WINMSD go to Resources which will give all the details of all occupied IRQ etc for diagnostic purpose.

After you find out some IRQ's are conflicting and that you are not able to change the IRQ of either or both the NIC or ZIP, check to see if your BIOS will let you set the IRQ per PCI or ISA slot, some do (AMI, some do not Phoenix. If you can then change it there and see if that works.

Was the computer on when you pluged in the parallel cable. If I'm not mistaken, you're not supposed to do that. You should connect it when the pc is off. I run NT server 4.0 with a parallel zip and I get the same thing. Make sure there is a disk in the drive and it is connected before you power on....
