XP Pro hangs talking to NT4 Domain

I have tried connecting to 2 XP Pro machines to an NT4 Domain with service pack 6a and all updates using fixed IP addresses. Also disabled secure channel signing and disabled autoenorlling certificate, but still both XP machines freeze after trying to login to the Domain. There is nothing in the XP event log, so it seems to be an NT thing.
