I am currently trying to get a network up and running, but there is a serious problem. The Server is running Windows NT 4.0, and the computers on the network are all running either Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro. NONE of the computers recognize the Server. They cannot join into the network. At best we have gotten one computer into the domain. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the server answer ping from the XP and 2000 machines? Have you created computer accounts on the server for each one of the machine?

When I ping the server from the Windows 200 machines i get a 100% loss. Send 4, lose 4, get nothing returned. When I ping the server from a Windows XP Machine i get the same problem, but with only 3 packets. No we havn't made computer accounts, so i guesss that thats the most obvious path to take now. Does anybody have any other suggestions?(We think it may be the way that the internet is being shared through the router and the switch)

Well, it certainly seems like a networking issue. If a machine can't successfully ping the DC, then you won't be able to add the machine to the Domian and login...

so how are you physically connecting? 100% loss usually indicates a broken cable, bad nic or port.

Yes, I would have to agree about the network being the issue. Cable or NIC, check your switches, if any. Trying running a tracert on one of your server. Can you ping another XP or 2K from one of the XP and 2K boxes? Trying using a loop back by pinging 127.0.0.1 - if you get a reply, they I would I assume that your nic is okay.
