XP Client conencting NT Domain

Win NT domain server working fine with Win'98 client. Recently i installed a client station having Win XP and cant connect to NT Dmain, although i changed the Computer name and selected join domain and entered the correct User ID , Password.

When i connect my old Win98 station, it conencts perfectly,

Please advise ?

IP address? (how allocated? right range?) Can you ping the NT server from the XP machine?

Did you ever get this figured out? We have had problems getting XP pcs to join out NT domain and are just trying to do some research!!
