Hi
We have an NT server with a service running called wowexec.exe, I think a 16bit application was installed on it and it uses it. Is it safe to remove it, how to remove it as I have to end the task everytime I re-start the machine.

not running NT anymore but you are correct it is the 16 bit subsystem for running the old apps. it is usually when you install an old app and if your system runs ok by turning it off in the task mgr then try to disable the service eg; start, settings, services.

It may be part of a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) monitoring software such as Power Chute which is a "legacy" app since it uses the serial port to monitor the UPS in most cases.
