Word 2000 problem

I have a problem with a word 2000 template. It seems that it just stops working after a while. When I replace it with the original file it works again but just for a couple of days, then I have to do it over again. The template is on a NT4 server and the are approx. 10-15 users using it everyday and they have Win95, WinNT and Win2000. The template is protected so it can't be written to. Still when I try to open it it says that the file does't exist or I haven't the rights to open it. Does anyone know what this could be??
