Subject: Won't Detect 2nd NIC |
Comment: I am running an old 486 machine with windows server 4.0 SP1. Windows automatically recognized my first Network card during setup. But didn't recognize my second card. So I downloaded the driver off the web site and tried installing it that way and it still didn't recognize it. I tried using the appropriate driver from the list avaible. It didn't recognize the card. Before I installed server 4.0 I had windows 95(First edition) and it recognized both cards no problem. Both cards are plug&play compatible. and windows has drivers for both but the second one won't work. (To make sure it worked I hooked it up in my other computer and it worked fine.) Any Ideas? I am really stuck. thanks David.

Reply: (edit)Sound like you did it right. What kind of NIC's are they? Sometimes NT has trouble when it tries to run two 3Com NIC's, but a 3Com and any other will work fine. Cheers! Chase

Reply: (edit)Originally it was two 3coms, the exact same model. So I finally gave up and I swapped network cards. So now there is a Realtek and a 3com. I have reinstalled windows since I changed cards.
