Hi there,
I have a D-Link router connected via LAN on a desktop connected permanently via dial-up to the Intenet and my Dell laptop is connected wirelss to the router.

Everything goes perfect for like a minute or so after I connect. I have 54 Mbps speed but without doing anything it drops down to 48 Mbps and stays there. Why?

If I go further away of my router I loose some speed (which is fair enough) however if I come back close to the router the speed is not catching up. Is that normal? Shouldn't be adjusted automatically to the highest available?

If I disconnect and cnnect again I get 54 Mbps for another minute and then 48 Mbps and it stays on 48.

I have IntelProSet Wirless Card on my Dell, D-Link DI-624+G wireless router, WEP 128 encriprtion enabled on all machines.

Please help if you can. Cheers!
